About Replacing a Car Registration in Missouri
It is vital that you replace a lost car registration in Missouri if you misplace your original registration document or believe that someone has stolen it from you. If you do not replace lost vehicle registration credentials once they are no longer in your possession, you may receive a traffic citation if a police officer pulls you over and asks to see valid proof of a car registration.
Note: If you lose your registration close to its expiration date, you may be able to complete the registration renewal process instead of ordering a duplicate.
Moreover, you must obtain duplicate registration cards, license plates and tabs if these items get damaged and become unreadable. To perform a registration replacement, you can submit the request in person or by mail. The process involves completing an application and paying a processing fee.
