About Replacing Your Car Registration in Hawaii
You must replace a lost car registration in Hawaii whenever your original credential disappears from your possession. For instance, you must replace a lost vehicle registration if you misplace your original credential or believe that another individual has stolen it from you. If your current registration card becomes damaged or is no longer readable, you must also purchase a replacement certificate.
In addition to obtaining a duplicate registration certificate once this DMV credential sustains damages or disappears from your possession, you must order replacement plates and/or emblems when necessary. While the steps you must take to replace your DMV credentials will vary depending on the county in which you live, you can typically submit your request in person or by mail.
