How to Renew Car Registration in Nevada

You must apply for a car registration renewal in Nevada before your current registration expires, as driving without valid credentials may result in fines and late fees. As a reminder to renew your registration on time, the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will send you a renewal notice about 30 days in advance. Make sure your address is current on DMV records so you do not miss out on these notices.

Before applying for a DMV registration renewal in NV, you must bring your vehicle to an inspection station to undergo an emissions test. Some inspection stations can renew your registration at the same time, while others will require you to renew online, in person, by mail or fax after your vehicle passes its annual inspection. If the inspection station can renew your credentials, you will receive your new registration slip and decals in the mail.
