About Changing the Name on Your Arkansas Registration

Before you can change the name on your car registration in Arkansas, you must update the information on your Social Security card and state-issued driver’s license.

To update your information with the Social Security Administration (SSA), you need to apply for a new Social Security card to your local SSA office.

With your application, include certified proof of your name change, a valid form of photo identification and evidence of your U.S. citizenship status.

Next, you must apply for a DMV name change to update the information on your Arkansas driver’s license or identification card. To do so, you must visit your local Office of Driver Services to submit your request in person.

• Your license plate number.
• Your driver’s license number.
• Your registration ZIP code.
