About Address Changes on Registration in Nevada

According to state law, you must request a DMV change of address in Nevada within 30 days of moving to a new residence. If you do not notify the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) about your new address, you may not receive vehicle registration renewal notices, driver’s license notifications and other important updates from the DMV.

You can change car registration address details online, in person, by mail or fax. If your vehicle’s registration credentials are about to expire, you may also choose to renew your credentials at this time. Read on for additional information about how to update your address with the Nevada DMV.

How can I change my car registration address in Nevada?

To perform an address change on car registration credentials, vehicle owners may submit their request online, in person, by mail or fax, depending on preference.

After applicants submit their request to the DMV, the department will update the address on their vehicle registration and driver’s license records at the same time. If vehicle owners move within the same county, the DMV can update their voter registration information as well.

Updating Online

To apply for a change of address online, applicants must be able to log into their existing MyDMV accounts or create a new online profile. To create a new account, applicants need their:

  • Nevada driver’s license or ID card number.
  • Date of birth.
  • Social Security Number (SSN).
  • License plate number.

After submitting their DMV change of address form, applicants will receive a new driver’s license or ID card that displays their new address. However, customers may choose to purchase a replacement registration certificate as well.

In Person

To perform an address change on registration in person rather than online, customers must visit their local DMV office to submit a completed application and payment for the required fee. If applicants wish to purchase a replacement registration certificate that displays their new address, they will receive the duplicate credential before leaving the office.

By Mail or Fax

To perform an NV DMV address change by mail or fax, customers must forward a completed Change of Address Notification to the Department. If faxing an application to the DMV, customers must also include a Payment Authorization Form to pay the applicable fee with a credit card.

If changing their address by mail, however, customers may choose to pay the required fee by check, money order or credit card.
