About Changing Your Address on Your Maryland Registration
By law, you must apply for a Maryland DMV change of address within 30 days of moving from one part of the state to another.
If you do not change your car registration address information with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), you may not receive future license plate renewal notices from the Department.
When you update the address on your vehicle registration records, the MVA will simultaneously change your driver’s license information as well. As such, failure to correct your address with the MVA may also result in the loss of correspondence pertaining to your Maryland driver’s license.
To learn more about the steps you must take to update your address with the Maryland MVA, review the information below.

Updating Online
To submit your MD change of address online request, you must be able to provide several important pieces of information, including the last four digits of your MVA PIN.
The first step is accessing the state’s online portal to enter your email address and/or telephone number. After doing so, provide the following information:
- Personal information, including your driver’s license or ID card number
- The last four digits of your MVA PIN or Social Security Number (SSN)
- Payment for the required fee
After submitting your online DMV change of address request, you will receive a card within four to six business days. However, you will not receive a replacement registration card and/or driver’s license that displays your new address unless you choose to purchase a duplicate.
In Person
If you prefer to change your car registration address in person, visit a full-service MVA office to submit your application materials.
With your request, you must present a completed DMV change of address form and payment for the required application fee if you wish to purchase a replacement driver’s license and/or registration card.
As another option, you may be able to change the address on your driver’s license and registration credentials by using a self-service kiosk.
By Mail
To perform an address change on registration and driver’s license credentials by mail rather than in person, forward your application materials to the MVA’s main office in Glen Burnie.
